Spíler is a favorite of downtown locals, and with good reason – quality street food is offered here in a laid-back scene with a cool bar serving Hungary’s best microbrews and wines. Excellent DJ music on weekends to speed up your night.
“Spíler is one of those places that reminds people what fantastic things are happening in the former Eastern Bloc countries of Europe, and reinvigorates even the most dormant travel bug. Downtown Budapest is where the action is at in this case – a microbrewery bistropub with so much going for it, that it might justify a budget airline flight on its own merits alone.” (We Heart magazine)
Located in the Gozsdu district, Spíler is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, party or just for a chat - weekends between 8:30am and midnight, weekdays between 11:30am and midnight.
An iconic "bistropub" offering high-quality street food, excellent wines and a wide variety of local beer served in a laid-back urban locale amid the courtyards of Gozsdu Udvar in downtown Budapest. Awesome electronic music played by DJ's between Thursday and Saturday.
After opening in autumn 2012 within Budapest’s historic Gozsdu Udvar arcade, Spíler was already a favorite of downtown locals, and with good reason – top-quality street food is offered here in a laid-back scene with a cool bar serving Hungary’s best microbrews and wines. The exposed pipes and brickwork of this welcoming hangout establish an urban vibe that extends to the music playing; on weekends a vibrant nightlife crowd converges here as DJs spin electronic grooves. But it’s the great “bistropub” menu that sets Spíler apart – each dish is expertly made from scratch out of super-fresh foodstuffs, like grilled chicken sausages, perfect cheeseburgers, and potato jackets loaded with toppings.
The portfolio of the family that owns Spíler and Spíler Shanghai includes 9 restaurants in Budapest’s. 4 of them are in the Pest side (Opera Café, ÉS Bisztro and the Spílers), 5 of them are in the most prestigeous historic old town Castle Disctrict (Pierrot, 21, Pest-Buda, Baltazár and Jamie's Italian), where high-end gastronomy meets modern Hungarian cuisine serving thousands of people a year. The restaurants are recommended by the Michelin Guide and Gault Millau Guide too, the kitchens are led by senior group chef Lajos Lutz, who participated in Spíler’s menu set as well. The flagship restaurant Pierrot was founded 31 years ago and was the first privately owned café in Hungary.
Spíler is where downtown modern pub feeling meets the Castle District’s high-end gastronomy at mass level: excellent ingredients with high-quality wine and beer served in a kind and laid-back modern pub atmosphere. This is what’s made Spíler already the coolest bistro-pub in town.
Gozsdu udvar is located in the heart of Budapest, in the 7th disctrict. It has gone through many changes in the past decades, but started being one of Budapest biggest attractions in 2011. The city is famous for its ruin pubs, the 7th District has already been full of them. Spíler is the 2.0 version of the ruin pubs: laid-back style with excellent food and quality chabby-chic interior design.
The decor was collected from local furniture designers, the flea market, old warehouses, and apple producer farmers. This mix results the unique atmosphere and the site of Spíler.
