What is the place about?
Lust, women, style, dimmed lights, sensual music, erotica…this was the Shanghai of the 30's. It was a vibrant city where cultures from around the world mixed with the Chinese. Business flourished, life was lived to the max, nationalities and Chinese blended, music was played loud and the air was full of sparkle. This is what Spíler Shanghai is all about, in the heart of the Budapest party district, the Gozsdu courtyard.

The dishes: Asia 3.0
The coolest dishes from all around Asia, completely free and modern conception with accessible prices, cool design inspired by Chinatown in New York and J.M.Basquiat whose style is far from the traditional Asian style. Friendly service and unbelievably good music downstairs in the secret bar played by DJ Moon, DAVD VAX and Ramone on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
We primarily offer dishes that can be shared, eaten either by hand, cutlery or chopsticks, that are ideal for a drinking or party time, but also suitable for more serious culinary experiences. The menu is not only wide in its content but also in its price level: wide range of dishes from ruinpub style bites, rolls, tempuras through cool dong po to beef tataki made from phenomenal American cattle.
The kitchen was inspired by chefs from New York and San Fransisco such as David Chang who is an authoritative person of this field and who creates an exciting and cool Asian kitchen. In Spíler Shanghai there are no strict authentic rules neither for the chefs nor for the guests, but it is still based on real roots. The progressive Asian kitchen of Spíler Shanghai was established by Zsolt Litauszki former creative chef and Spíler maestro Lajos Lutz and is led by Krisztián Rácz, former chef of internationally awarded 21 The Hungarian Kitchen. His work is supported by experienced Chinese chefs that makes the place credible.
Beside the well-known draft beers from Spíler, exciting Chinese, Thai, Japanese and Singaporian beers, hard-to-reach sakés, the best Japanese whiskys and many-many luxuriant Asian cocktails created especially for the Shanghai – these will be our flaghsip drinks.
- Our coctails are made from home made fruit extracts and plant essences.
- Just like in Spíler Original there is a great selection of wines available, different from those that the surrounding places offer.
Every weekend electronic music from midnight played by DJ Moon, who plays party tune up music in Spíler Original between 9 pm and midnight, then he moves to the Secret Bar of Spíler Shanghai and changes to a real dancing electronic style.
Private party place:
The Secret Bar downstairs is a perfect place for parties for 140 persons, but it can also be divided into two seperate rooms and is suitable for dinners, receptions and private parties.
The design concept was created by owner Roy Zsidai, who mixed the atmosphere of Budapest’s ruin pubs with atmosphere of New York Chinatown.
The 1930s Shanghai and the chaby chick style is mixed and all is crowned with drawings and industrial interior solutions inspired by Basquiat and Warhol.
